A shooting during a gathering of young adults left one dead on Oct. 18 in Tucson, according to the Tucson Police Department.

Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Ocean Frederick Washington.

Officers were dispatched about 3:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting at one of the parking lots of Mission Manor Park near South 21st Avenue and West Calle Ramona, the Police Department said.

When crews arrived, they found Washington suffering from a gunshot wound and tried to treat his injuries. Police said the Tucson Fire Department came in for additional medical care, but Washington died at the scene.

According to police, witness statements affirm several young adults were gathering when a vehicle “recklessly accelerating” around the parking lot arrived, police said in a media release.

One of the vehicle’s passengers fired a gun several times and shot Washington, police said.

According to the Police Department, detectives obtained a description of the vehicle and the shooter by interviewing witnesses and recovering evidence at the scene. Officers then located the vehicle at a residence near West Ajo Way and South Valley Road.

Police said officers searched the residence and the vehicle and detained 19-year-old Deandre Isaiah Antone as the shooting suspect. He was charged with first-degree murder and drive-by shooting after officers recovered additional evidence and conducted more interviews, according to the Police Department.

Antone is currently in a Pima County jail.

On Oct. 22, police identified a minor as a second suspect in the shooting. The 14-year-old was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.

The shooting is under investigation by the Homicide Unit and the Gun Crimes Reduction Unit of the Tucson Police Department.
