Jacqueline (Jacque) E. Lundy, November 30, 1930 to October 26, 2021

Born in El Paso, TX, the oldest child of Arlin and Sara Maddox, Jacque spent her childhood in El Paso and Lordsburg, New Mexico. She graduated from El Paso High in 1947 and completed one year of college at Texas College of Mines (UTEP). She married the love of her life, James (Jim) H. Lundy Jr. in September 1948, a marriage that lasted for 69 years until Jim’s death in 2017.

In September 1949, Jacque and their baby son (James H Lundy III) joined Jim in Superior, AZ as he commenced a long career as a copper mining engineer. Jacque and Jim moved up the road to Miami in 1951 where they established deep community roots that would endure for their lives together. Their daughters Margaret Ann and Eugenia (Genie) were born in Miami in 1951 and 1954 and Jacque devoted herself to her family and her community. She was a dedicated homemaker, an excellent cook, a gracious hostess, an avid golfer, and a sly bridge player. Jacque was involved in a variety of community activities: Girl Scouts, 4-H, The Community Concerts and the Auxiliary of the American Society of Mining Engineers. However, all these interests were secondary to her long-time service as a member of the Miami Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and for many years faithfully produced the Church’s weekly bulletin.

In the late 1960s as her children were proceeding through elementary and high school, Jacque focused her remarkable energy to complete her own college education. She took two years of courses through ASU’s fledgling affiliation with Public Television (Channel 8) and then commuted to Tempe each week to complete her bachelor’s degree and earn her teaching certificate. Jacque then taught in the Miami Public Schools for nearly two decades (Kindergarten, 4th grade and at Miami High School).

Jacque was a devoted wife, a wonderful mom and she dearly loved her grandchildren and extended family of siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews and then later in life, her great-grandchildren. She was a hard worker and a trusted friend and lived a life of service to her neighbors and the entire community.

Jacque was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her daughter Margaret, and her siblings Arlin Maddox, Sally Ann Cave and Edward Maddox. She is survived by her son Jim III (Michele), daughter Genie (John) Barajas, seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves a lasting mark on her family, her church and the entire Miami-Globe area.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, Arizona.
