Key players to see in Mountain View-Basha game

- Richard Obert Arizona Republic | USA TODAY NETWORK

There are key players to see Friday night when Chandler Basha plays host to Mesa Mountain View. They're on college coaches' radar.

Here's a look:

BASHA BEARS (9-0)

Cole Martin, CB, 5-10, 175, Jr.

He is The Republic's No. 1 2023 prospect. He is not only one of the best cornerbacks in the nation but one of the top kick returners. He'll be locking down his side. He's got about 30 major college offers.

James Durand, OL, 6-6, 285, Jr.

He has started on varsity since his freshman year, following in the footsteps of his brother at Basha. He is a major college recruit who anchors the offensive line.

Demond Williams Jr., QB, 5-11, 165, So.

He started on varsity as a freshman and led the Bears to the 6A playoffs. He's only gotten more dynamic. He is The Repbulic's top prospect in the 2024 class.

Jeremiah Vessel, CB, 6-0, 185, Jr.

He can play both ways. A great addition coming over during the summer from Louisiana. He has double-figure college offers.

Deshaun Buchanan, DB/RB, 6-0, 185, Jr.

Impactful player on both sides of the ball. Dynamic playmaker who, along with Martin, has Open Division championship experience, playing last season at Hamilton.

Miles Lockhart, DB/WR, 5-11, 180, So.

Another starter as a freshman last year, Lockhart has major colleges recruiting him as a versatile athlete who impacts the game on both sides of the ball.

Bryson Dedmon, WR, 5-9, 155, So.

Started as a sophomore. Has 47 catches for 795 yards and eight TDs. Jack Bleier, LB, 6-1, 215, So.

He can also play tight end, but he makes his mark on defense, where he's had two sacks.

MOUNTAIN VIEW TOROS (7-1)

Jackson Bowers, TE, 6-5, 235, Jr. Not quite at Todd Heap level, but he's living up the hype of being one of the top tight ends in the state. He's got major college offers and is very strong in the red zone. A matchup problem for teams. Malaki Ta'ase, DE, 6-2, 240, Sr.

It is feared he suffered a season-ending injury last week. Tremendous athlete with college offers. Can make plays at tight end, but he has been the engine to a defense that has given up only 68 points. Cole Standage, DB, 6-2, 180, Sr.

He had three interceptions last week in the win over Desert Vista and six on the season.

Matt Clark, WR/FS, 5-10, 165, Sr.

A top target who is averaging about 18 yards a catch. Can make plays in the secondary.

Reese Marziale, RB, 5-10, 190, Sr. Tough, hard-nosed runner, who is a treat to score, keeping the offense balanced.

Gabriel Grutzmacher, DE, 6-5, 225, Sr.

Strong off the edge. Has the size and skills to play on Saturdays.
