CASA GRANDE – David Arthur Wuertz 60 of Casa Grande, AZ passed away on November 6, 2021. He was born on November 2, 1961 in Florence, AZ to Howard Arthur and Jewell Faye (Curtis) Wuertz. David was a man of many talents. He farmed in the Casa Grande Valley for over 45 years. David was on the Board of Electrical District #2 for 24 years and during that tenure served as Chairman for six years. He also was on the Board of the Hohokam Irrigation & Drainage District and served as Vice Chairman during his stint on the board. David was a long-time member of the River Co-op Gin. He supported many local causes in the communities of Coolidge and Casa Grande. Although farming was his vocation, his avocation was team roping. He said he only played at team roping but he took it seriously and was very competitive. It was an opportunity for him to spend time with friends, family and his horses. In later years he added another hobby of learning how to play the guitar. He thoroughly enjoyed the learning process and had the opportunity to express himself through music. His family was his passion. He and Lori were a team. He adored his girls and raised them to be confident and strong and was extremely proud of all their accomplishments. David always had a funny story to tell, and he told them well. He knew just the right time to tell the story to uplift someone or to break the tension when things got hard. His positive attitude helped as he struggled with health issues. His wife Lori said, “My husband faced this illness the same way he faced every challenge; with a quiet determination to win.” David is survived by his wife of 32 years Lori Jean (Scussel) Wuertz; his parents Howard and Jewell Wuertz, his three daughters Madeline, Francesca, and Mary Cate Wuertz all of Casa Grande and his siblings Sarah Lynn Wuertz of Phoenix, Gregory Wuertz (Loralee), and Carol Wuertz Behrens (Jim) both of Casa Grande, AZ. He also leaves behind his father-in-law Hank Scussel and brother-in-law Jim Scussel (Jennifer) both of Tempe, AZ and eight nieces and nephews and their families. He will be missed by his family and his many friends. A Celebration of Life honoring David will be at 11:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center at the First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande, 702 E. Cottonwood Lane, Casa Grande, AZ. A lunch will follow the service.
