Charley Cano passed away on 11/06/2021 after a 21-year battle with prostate cancer. Charley was born in Phoenix, AZ on 9/10/1945 to Eleanor and Jose Cano. Charley is predecease­d by his parents, brothers, David and Danny and survived by, Joe Cano (Connie), Nick Cano, Jimmy Cano (Priscilla) and sister Ophelia Radick (Cornel). Charley had a fruitful life with his wife, Terry of 55 years. Charley had many talents, including gunsmithin­g, competitio­n shooting, wrought iron work, and metal fabricatio­n. Besides Charley’s many talents, he enjoyed hunting and fishing to include his dream of an African hunting safari. Charley served in the Arizona Army National Guard for 40 years achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 and fondly known in the guard as “Chief Cano”. Charley is survived by his wife, Terry, his children, Bridget, Cynthia, Anna and Carlos (Sonia). His grandchild­ren, Andrew (Andy), Gabrielle (Gabby), Madison, Anthony, and Alex. Charley also had 3 great-grandchild­ren, Lucas, James and Dominic, and many beloved friends, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed, “Viejo”. “Dad”, “Tata”, and many other monikers given by his beloved family and friends. Family and friends are invited to a viewing being held on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 9925 W Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ, from 4-7 PM with a 6 PM Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery, 8502 W Pinchot Ave, Phoenix, AZ with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Charley requested that donations be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery and to Hospice of the Valley.
