MarJune Mears

-

DEWEY – MarJune Mears passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Her memorial service will be at 1 pm, Wednesday November 24th at Messinger Indian School Mortuary in Scottsdale.

MarJune was born on May 18, 1929, in Raymond, Idaho, to O’Neil and Carma Davis. After moving to Boise, O’Neil and Carma managed the El Rancho Dance Hall where big bands would play and enlisted Air Force soldiers would come to dance when on leave. It was here that MarJune met her future husband, Woodrow (Woody) Mears. She proclaimed in her memoir that “He was such a good jitterbug dancer and so good looking.” The couple moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1958 with their young son, Chad, where Woody worked at and later owned a barber shop. Two more sons, Terry and Randy would round out the family.

MarJune’s greatest passion in life was her family and she loved children. When her boys were all old enough to be in school she started a long career in child care, and cared for multiple generations of some families who all fondly remember her as Miss MarJune. Later she delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

MarJune was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons Chad and Randy. She is survived by her son Terry, grandchildren Janell, Cory, and Crystal, and great grandchildren Paul, Maximus, Jaxton, Scarlette, Michael, and Evelynn and two daughter-in-laws Lisa and Paulette.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make-a-Wish foundation at wish.org that creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at messingermortuary.com/listings.
