Martin Leroy Stahl (Marty) was born May 28, 1947, the third and youngest child of Raymond Arthur Stahl and Elizabeth Eleanor (Leonard) Stahl. The family lived in Glendale, Queens and then Ridgewood, NY. Marty attended public elementary schools in Queens and then Brooklyn. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School.

Marty enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly served two tours in the Vietnam War, where he found his love of technology. Following his return to the US, Marty worked and lived in Washington, D.C. before moving to San Francisco in the 1970s.

Marty met Tracy Kirkland and on September 25, 1982 they were married in San Mateo, California. Marty welcomed Tracy’s children Will and Casey McClung, into his heart and they began their family. The family was completed with the birth of Diana Christine Stahl on September 20, 1983.

Marty and Tracy became spiritual practition­ers in the Center of Spiritual Living in San Jose, CA. Employment took Marty and Tracy to Kansas City, MO, Baltimore, MD, and finally to Phoenix, AZ where Marty retired. Marty struggled with PTSD and became involved with Vets Helping Vets, both as a participan­t and as a leader. He was very excited about the programs offered at the Merritt Center in Payson, AZ. Marty’s beloved wife Tracy died in 2016, following an extended and well-fought battle with cancer.

Marty began having increased health issues in the spring of 2021 and was undergoing extensive testing through the VA Medical Center. It was ultimately determined that his liver was failing and he had cancer. It was recommende­d that he go into hospice care. Marty made the decision to enter the VA Community Living Center, where he received excellent care. Marty’s health continued to decline, and he died there on Veterans Day November 11, 2021.

Marty was preceded in death by his beloved wife Tracy, his parents, and his brother Roger. He is survived by his children Diana Stahl (Nick), Casey McClung Olivas (Gerson), and William McClung III (Carrie); five grandchild­ren Cassidy, Seth, and Janessa Olivas and Fiona and Tallulah McClung; one sister Rev. Dr. Nancy Carol Stahl; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
