Michael Henry Sims

-

Michael Henry Sims, age 67, joined his wife, Donna Sims in Heaven, with the Lord, on November 13, 2021. He was born February 4, 1954 to Henry & Emma Sims. Michael served in the Air Force for 4 years then worked as an engineer at Garrett/Allied Signal/Honeywell. He was also a Southern Baptist Minister until 2012 and served several churches in the Phoenix area.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, sister, and aunts. Michelle (daughter) and John(spouse) Adamson and their two children, Chelsea (granddaughter) and Ross (spouse) Monasky and Makenna (granddaughter) and Cesar (spouse) Diaz. Jonathan (son) and Joanna (spouse) Sims. Teri (sister) and Edgar (spouse) Dunn. His aunts Martha Jean Snyder, Gilda Sims, and Jane Holland Travis.

Michael moved to Woodlawn, VA in 2019 with his son & daughter-in-law after taking a road trip in 2017. He and Jonathan drove across the country to see places that Michael had lived growing up. They visited AR, LA, TN, and NC. They both fell in love with the scenery and abundance of fishing and hunting in the NC area which prompted the move from Phoenix, AZ. He was able to connect with family members in NC and took an interest in learning more about his heritage.

Michael and Donna, along with several family members, suffer from chronic kidney disease. They both received dialysis in the later years of their lives and we would like to thank Fresenius Dialysis of Phoenix, AZ and Galax, VA for their care. Please consider making a donation for the ongoing research and development to the American Kidney Fund at kidneyfund.org.
