Calico Antoinette is a great cuddle bug
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Antoinette
One of the last of 40 pets transferred to the Arizona Humane Society in September after being saved from Hurricane Ida, Antoinette is patiently waiting for her happy forever after in Arizona after her long trek across country. Now that she is enjoying life in the desert, this beautiful 8-year-old domestic shorthair calico is hoping that she can also find a home to call her own like the rest of the Louisiana pets saved through AHS’ Emergency Response Team.
Once she finally made it to AHS, Antoinette was treated in the shelter’s animal trauma hospital by being given a dental to help keep her mouth clean and healthy. As you can imagine, this adorable kitty was a bit stressed after all she had been through and needed some time to decompress. Thanks to AHS’ Behavior Team, she has been doing much better thanks to their patience and care.
Although she can be very loving after getting to know you, this royal cat needs some time to warm up to people and to be allowed to be her independent self. Antoinette is a great cuddle bug who will even nudge you when she wants more pets and loves to bird watch when she is not nestled between her favorite people.
