John Vincent Crosby, Jr.

-

John Vincent Crosby, Jr. died peacefully on September 7, 2021, at his home in Prescott, surrounded by his loving family. John was a native Arizonan, born at the Stork’s Nest in Tucson and the only child of Betty B. and John Vincent Crosby, Sr.

John and his family eventually moved to Phoenix, where he graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1955. While attending Phoenix College and completing his A.A in Engineering Sciences, John worked at Air Research and designed a specialized valve for NASA’s Saturn IV rocket. In 1958, he married Georgann Lucas and they went on to raise a family of 3 children.

John was a true renaissance man from his education, to his many accomplishments and his international travels. He earned a Ph.D., M.A. and B.S. Degrees in Psychology from Arizona State University.

John’s entrepreneurial spirit allowed him to excel in so many different careers in his life from engineering, high-tech startups, consulting, mergers and acquisitions, software development and economic forecasting.

Some of his proudest accomplishments include being a founding or co-founding member of five companies. John authored two books, “Managing the Big Sale” and “Cycles, Trends, and Turning Points” and was the editor and publisher of “Turning Points”, an economic newsletter. John was also one of the 50 contributors to the Blue Chip Economic Indicators.

While John and Georgann traveled the world together, their favorite destination was France. Their shared love of all things French inspired them to open Sophie’s, an award-winning French restaurant located in central Phoenix which they owned for 13 years.

The thing that brought him the most joy though was his 63-year marriage to his beloved Georgie and the family they created. John loved great wine, a good scotch, beautiful music, Mexican food, and being surrounded by his grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than the annual Christmas celebration at the family cabin in Prescott with falling snow and a roaring fire. John will be greatly missed for his kindness, understanding, mentorship, sense of humor, and love of learning.

John is survived by his wife, Georgann Crosby (Prescott, AZ) and his three children John (Trey) Vincent Crosby III (Newport, MN), Michael Edward Crosby and his wife Jill Renee Crosby (Peoria, AZ), and Colleen Crosby (Chandler, Arizona). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Sean, Ryan, Katie, Josh, Julia and Erin. A Celebration of Life was held on November 14th at Binkleys restaurant in Phoenix, AZ. Donations, on his behalf, can be sent to Kindred Hospice-Prescott 3107 Clearwater Drive, Prescott, AZ 86305.
