Donna Berchtold

CAVE CREEK – Donna Mae Berchtold, 88, of Cave Creek, AZ passed away peacefully on March 30, 2022. Donna was born March 17, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Andrew and Cora (Evans) Flock and was the youngest of two daughters. Donna married Lester Jacob Berchtold on April 15, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe, IL. This union would last nearly 61 years until Lester’s passing in 2011. Donna and Les had two sons, Andrew Jacob and Scott Duane, both born in Peoria, IL. In March of 1963 the family moved to Arizona and set up home in Scottsdale. In 1983 Donna and Lester moved to Cave Creek where they lived for the remainder of their lives. They attended Northridge Community Church, where Donna volunteered at the office and through working at home until her health and vision no longer allowed. Donna was a talented pianist and an artistic person producing many works including oil paintings, handmade and painted china dolls, handmade scrap books and albums, and very detailed family genealogy books. She loved animals, especially her Dobermans. Donna is survived by her sons Andrew (Terrie) of Cave Creek and Scott (Glenyce) of Pahrump, NV, grandchild Jason (Heather) of Phoenix, Kelly (AJ) of Peoria, and great-grandchildren Jaycob, Kacey, Taylor, and Nathan. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, her sister Colleen, Her grandson AJ Berchtold, and her great-grandson Cody. Donna had a wonderful gift of gab, never met a stranger, and visited with everyone. Donna will be best remembered for her caring and loving manner and devotion to God and family. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held at Messinger Mortuary at 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85255 on Thursday April 7th at 2:00 pm. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
