Clyde needs love, patience
Every year, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter shelters nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, about 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats.
Each week, The Arizona Republic highlights a handful of the many pets up for adoption at Valley shelters. To check the status of a specific animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Clyde: A pup looking for a little love, patience
Each year, the Arizona Humane Society assists law enforcement with more than 6,900 cases of suspected animal cruelty. With April being National Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, AHS is shining a light on Clyde, a sweet 2-year-old Harrier mix, after being treated in AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital due to suspected abuse.
On March 10, AHS’ Animal Cruelty Investigators responded to a call to assist Phoenix Police on a case involving suspected animal abuse. Upon arriving on scene, it was found that Clyde was in need of medical care and he was immediately transported to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital where he was examined and treated medically. Exams showed that Clyde had several broken ribs, old fractures that have healed, several broken teeth, was underweight and treated for tenderness in his right hind leg. While he still is in need of putting on a few more pounds, Clyde has made a great recovery and is now hoping to find a perfect forever home full of love and care.
Clyde is an incredibly cute pup that is looking for a patient home that understands he will need some time to adjust and would benefit from positive reinforcement to help him learn the ropes. A huge lover of treats, this expressive boy loves to show off how well he can sit and will even give his paw for a shake. For anyone who suspects animal abuse or who is aware of a sick or injured homeless pet that requires assistance, they are encouraged to call AHS’ Field Team at 602-997-7585 ext. 2073.
