Hundreds of job openings available across Phoenix area

From pastries to the Postal Service, plenty of jobs remain unfilled around the Phoenix area, and employers continue to announce events to attract workers.

Arizona’s unemployme­nt rate in March stood at 3.3%, according to the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. That was a bit lower than the national jobless rate of 3.6%.

Café Valley Bakery

Phoenix-based Café Valley Bakery is looking to make 200 or more new hires while retaining existing employees at its production facility in west Phoenix.

Starting pay ranges from $17 to $19 an hour, depending on the shift.

The company is offering open interviews Mondays from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at its facility located at 7000 W. Buckeye Road in Phoenix.

The company (cafevalley.com) makes muffins, cakes, turnovers, croissants and other bakery products for customers throughout the U.S. and in some foreign markets.

Angry Crab Shack

Angry Crab Shack, a chain of AsianCajun restaurant­s, is seeking cooks, dishwasher­s and other back-of-house staff, along with various categories of managers. The company is seeking help at seven locations across the Valley.

Compensati­on ranges from $16

to $20 a hour for back-of-house staff positions, plus benefits. Management positions pay $45,000 to $60,000 per year, plus benefits and the potential for quarterly bonuses.

Postal Service

The U.S. Postal Service will seek to fill immediate openings for letter carriers, clerks, mail handlers and automotive technician­s at job fairs Thursday and April 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The events will be held at the Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix.

Starting pay ranges from $17.32 to $24.70 an hour. All positions come with paid time off, holiday pay and health care benefits.

Sunland Asphalt

Phoenix-based Sunland Asphalt is hiring for around 80 positions in Arizona and hosting a job fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with on-site interviews and immediate hires.

Those 80 available positions feature full- and part-time jobs including project managers, engineers, drivers, laborers, concrete finishers and concrete formsetter­s.

The job fair will take place at 3030 S. 7th St. in Phoenix. Benefits include a 401(k) retirement plan, tuition reimbursem­ent, paid time off and medical and dental insurance.
