Booker imitates Doncic with ‘The Luka Special’
DALLAS – That Devin Booker got his verbal jab on Tuesday night.
After laying on the court for a few seconds following a hard foul from Dorian Finney-Smith, Booker got up and said, ‘The Luka special’ in poking fun at Luka Doncic.
The Mavs All-Star has developed a reputation for flopping. Booker needled him with that comment captured by Action Network.
The two have been having words in this Western Conference semifinals series the Suns can end by winning Game 6 Thursday in Dallas.
If the Mavs win, there will be a decisive Game 7 Sunday in Phoenix.
Booker has said he’s having fun through the ups and downs of the series as he smiled through most of Sunday’s Game 4 loss in Dallas.
The Suns All-Star found a way to maintain that even after taking a hard foul from Finney-Smith.
Going to the basket in transition, Booker took a body bump from the bigger Finney-Smith and hit the floor hard on the baseline.
After laying flat on his stomach on the court for a few seconds, Booker, with teammates around him, first turned his head up and seemed to look right into a camera phone. Then he turned his head the other way as a fan kept shouting for him to stay down probably with the thought that FinneySmith could be called for a flagrant.
With a smile, Booker turned over on his front and said ‘The Luka Special’ after being helped up off the floor. Booker was later smiling and laughing with teammates on the bench as FinneySmith’s foul was upgraded to a flagrant 1 penalty for unnecessary contact.
Doncic and Booker each scored 28 points to lead their respective teams in scoring in Game 5 while Finney-Smith managed just eight after hitting a career-best eight shots from 3 in scoring 24 points in Game 4, which the Mavs won to even the series at 2-2.
