Phoenix-area weekend freeway closures slated for I-10, US 60
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced traffic closures and possible detours for drivers over the weekend when traveling around the Phoenix area.
Eastbound US 60
The eastbound US 60 will be closed between Interstate 10 and McClintock Drive for pavement repair work after a water line broke near McClintock Drive on May 7.
The southbound State Route 143 on-ramp at University Drive and eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Broadway Road were temporarily closed during this time as well.
ADOT has not announced when the closures will be complete. Updates can be found on the ADOT Facebook page or its Twitter page.
For drivers north of the US 60, ADOT advised using eastbound Loop 202 to southbound Loop 101.
For those south of the US 60, use eastbound Loop 202 in Chandler to northbound Loop 101.
The eastbound US 60 will also be closed overnight between Loop 202 and Meridian Road in east Mesa from 11 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Sunday for pavement sealing.
ADOT recommended using eastbound Baseline Road or Main Street as detours, as well as using the eastbound US 60 onramp at Ironwood Drive.
The eastbound I-10 offramp at Chandler Boulevard will be closed from 2 to 10 a.m. today for barrier work. ADOT advised using
Ray Road as an alternative route.
Westbound US 60
The westbound US 60 will be also closed between Loop 101 and McClintock Drive for pavement repair work related to the water line break from May 7.
ADOT did not announce when the closures would be complete.
ADOT recommended exiting the freeway ahead of the closure. Westbound US 60 traffic will be sent to northbound or southbound Loop 101. Northbound Loop 101 drivers can detour to westbound Loop 202 towards Sky Harbor Airport or downtown Phoenix, and southbound Loop 101 drivers can use westbound Loop 202 to connect to the I-10.
The westbound US 60 will also be closed overnight between Ironwood Drive and Loop 202 in east Mesa until 7 a.m. today for pavement sealing.
Alternate routes include westbound Baseline
Road or Main Street.
Eastbound I-10 lanes
The eastbound I-10 was narrowed to three lanes between 24th and 48th Streets at 10 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Monday for light pole installation as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.
The eastbound I-10 was also be narrowed to three lanes between Elliot and Warner roads at 10 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. today for barrier work associated with the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project as well.
The eastbound I-10 onramp at Elliot Road and eastbound offramp at Warner Road will be closed.
The eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to only one lane between Miller Road and Verrado Way in Buckeye from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. today for a widening project.
Westbound I-10
The westbound I-10 will be closed between 75th Avenue and Loop 101 from 2 a.m. today to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvement.
The northbound Loop 202 ramp to the westbound I-10 is closed during this time as well as the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 67th Avenue.
Drivers can use exits ahead of the closure at McDowell or Buckeye roads.
ADOT reminded drivers to allow for extra travel time, be prepared to slow down for traffic and merge safely when travelling through work zones.
