Richard Eugene Myers

-

Richard Eugene Myers was surrounded in love by his family as he was promoted to Heaven on May 1, 2022.

Richard was born to Harley and Ethel Myers on September 16, 1932 in Ashland Ohio. Right before he reached the age of 13, he moved to Southern California with his mother and siblings. Their hearts were tethered by love and their bonds were lifelong.

It was 1950 while at the local 5 and Dime, Rose Marie caught his eye and his heart was beating double time. From the day their eyes met, he knew she was the greatest gift of his life, and just 3 months later, she became his wife.

They had 7 children; Sheila (Larry), Richard Jr. (Debbie), Edward, twins Deborah, Charlotte (Brian), and twins Manuel and Daniel, who provided them with skills to write a child rearing manual!

In 1973 his family, and many of his extended family members moved to Phoenix. He enjoyed a long career, and then in 1997 he retired from the electrical wholesale business.

Richard was a man of great wisdom, compassion and wit. He loved a good conversation about life, and he knew how to make the best of it.

Richard enjoyed the thrill of two wheels on the road. Until the day Rose told him it just had to go. He was an off- track horse enthusiast, loved “Family Penny Slot Day”, and making great memories with his family at Saguaro Lake.

With his wisdom and guidance, we all learned from this. He was a man of his word, and had a strong moral compass. He was creative and sensitive and he had a special way, of crafting his words into a poem to make someone’s day.

But, the greatest joy and love of his life is Rose, with whom he shared 71 wonderful years. Together they experienced the joys and together they weathered the tears.

From their children, they were blessed, with 13 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson. Though Richard has now passed on, the family tree and his legacy will be carried on.

Now in spirit and worlds apart, but he will always be with us and forever in our hearts.

Preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters Janet and Twila, Brother Tommy, Daughter Charlotte and Grandson Mikey.

A celebration of life will be held on May 25th at the Cross In the Desert at 11:00am
