Eastbound I-10 lanes closed over weekend for improvement
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced that a portion of the eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed to motorists this weekend.
The I-10 eastbound will be closed between U.S. Route 60 and Loop 202 from 10 p.m. today to 4 a.m. Monday, an ADOT statement read.
It will be closed to allow crews with the Interstate 10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project to pave the roadway for a new eastbound travel lane between Baseline and Ray roads.
ADOT said that the following ramps will be closed during the weekend:
Westbound U.S. 60 ramp to I-10 e, the HOV ramps in both directions connecting I-10 and U.S. 60
Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 40th Street and Broadway, Baseline, Elliot, Warner and Ray roads
Eastbound U.S. and offramps at Mill Avenue
Drivers on the westbound I-10 should also plan for lane restrictions this weekend while crews continue work on the new 48th Street Bridge.
Drivers on southbound State Route 143 will be redirected to U.S. Route 60, according to ADOT.
The eastbound I-10 detour route will use the eastbound Loop 202 or the eastbound U.S. Route 60 to the southbound Loop 101, which will then go to the westbound Loop 202 to access the eastbound I-10 beyond the road closure, ADOT officials said.
The project is expected to be completed over the course of the next three weekends, where one two-mile section of the new travel lane will be paved each weekend until the entire lane is complete, according to ADOT officials.
ADOT advises drivers using the eastbound I-10 this weekend to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel.
