Hortensia Garcia

On September 9, 2022, Hortensia Galindo Garcia passed away peacefully in her sleep at 93 years old. A lifelong Arizona native, Hortensia was well loved by her family and friends. She was the mother of six children. Despite her large family, Hortensia always made time for everyone. She always provided support and love for her family. She and her husband, Ben, worked tirelessly to provide for her loved ones and for those most in need. She dedicated her life not only to her husband Ben, their six children, and her grandchildren but to her Catholic faith. Her belief in God and her devotion to the Virgin Mary carried us all through the most difficult times.

Hortensia was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ben Garcia, her great-grandchild, Michael Jr. III, her mother, father, brother and sisters. She is survived by her six children: Ben Jr. (Joann), Fred, Sylvia, Norma (Joseph), Michael (Consuelo), Lydia (Nazario) as well as her six grandchildren: Gail, Michael Benito (Kelly), Michael Jr., Nicholas, Matthew, Marcus, Mitchell (Challis) along with eight great-grandchildren: Destiny, Anthony, Michael Benito Jr, LilyAna, Alex, Ben Joseph, Cooper, Jack and one great-great grandchild, Layla Rose.

A visitation for Hortensia will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301) with a Rosary service at 6:00 PM. A funeral Mass will take place the following day, Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church (17111 W. Bell Road, Surprise, AZ 85374). Hortensia will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
