The Republic’s 2023 preseason All-Arizona team

The high school baseball season is set to begin on Wednesday with tournament­s. Here is The Arizona Republic’s 2023 high school preseason All-Arizona team.

Pitcher: J.D. DeCremer III, Phoenix Brophy Prep, Sr.

The Oregon State signee has emerged as one of the best right-handers in the nation with above-average velocity and incredible breaking pitches.

Pitcher: Cam Caminiti, Scottsdale Saguaro, So.

One of the best two-way players in the nation. Tremendous hitter, outfielder, and a lights-out left-hander whose fastball can reach the mid-90s range. The LSU commit is just scratching the surface.

Pitcher: Sal Valenzuela, Nogales, Jr. This left-hander who has committed to Arizona gives the Apaches a chance at winning state. Practicall­y automatic to win every start.

Catcher: Luke Jones, Gilbert Campo

Verde, Sr.

He was the 5A San Tan Region Offensive Player of the Year. A talented catcher whose versatilit­y separates him.

Infielder: Roch Cholowsky, Chandler Hamilton, Sr.

The UCLA signee could wind up a first-round Major League Baseball Draft pick this summer. But he’s out to try to win another state title as an elite shortstop who packs power, speed and a tremendous arm.

Infield: Ryan Kucherak, Hamilton, Sr.

The LSU signee hits for average, power and can run. A great third baseman who lets nothing get past him at the corner.

Infield: Drew Douglas, Chandler Basha, Sr.

The Long Beach State signee is an elite shortstop who has hit .340 and better in his last two varsity seasons.

Infield: Jackson Forbes, Glendale Mountain Ridge, Jr.

An Arizona commit who will ignite a team expected to give Hamilton and Basha a run at the 6A title.

Infield: Andrew Cain, Oro Valley

Ironwood Ridge, Sr.

Arizona signee. He is a versatile shortstop/third baseman who can flat hit. Great leader.

Outfield: Grant Smith, Phoenix Pinnacle, Sr.

Arizona State signee. Missed most of last season due to an injury but at 6foot-5, 210 pounds, he’s got all the tools to have the best comeback season.

Outfield: Max Charles, Peoria Liberty, Jr.

The LSU commit throws both left and right and can play anywhere on the field. A great infielder and pitcher who can’t be left off of this list.

Outfield: Carson McEntire, Mountain Ridge, Sr.

A dynamic athlete who can hit for average and power and has an elite arm capable of throwing out runners.

Designated hitter: Zach Wadas, Hamilton, Sr.

The TCU signee is making the move from the outfield to first base this year. He’s got the potential to lead the state in home runs. Big, powerful bat who drives in runs.

Utility: Josh Tiedemann, Hamilton,

Sr.

He was the 6A Premier Region Player of the Year the last two seasons. Can play him anywhere. He moves into the No. 1 spot in the pitching rotation. A great infielder who is one of the best hitters in the country. Has signed with TCU.
