Local businesses to offer Black Friday deals
After an evening of cooking and eating on Thanksgiving, what follows is a marathon of its own: Black Friday shopping.
When you think of Black Friday you think of long lines wrapping around store corners, shoving to get the last flat-screen TV and shopping carts full of necessary and unnecessary purchases.
Which is then followed by Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.
Black Friday has been around since the 1960s, when tourists would visit Philadelphia between Thanksgiving and the Army-Navy football game on Saturday.
According to the New York Times, Philadelphia police started to call it Black Friday because of the long hours, bad traffic, miserable weather and overall crowds.
Local retailers tried to attract shoppers during this hectic time.
Since Black Friday was originally based around local businesses, it only seems natural to support ones in Arizona. Here are 2023 Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday deals at Arizona local businesses.
Zia Records
The independent record store with locations in Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas sells CDs, DVDs, vinyl, exclusives, books and merch. Its deals span Friday-Tuesday, Nov. 24-28.
