Wilson, Vaughn to film at Tech

Owen Wilson’s and Vince Vaughn’s movie “The Internship” will soon be filming at Georgia Tech. “It’s exciting!” Lisa Grovenstei­n, a Tech spokeswoma­n, said. (She couldn’t say much more.)

The movie, which also has filmed scenes downtown and in Midtown, is a comedy about guys who get downsized and then start their careers over at the bottom rung. (They evidently make the most of their downtime along the way; we’ve seen casting calls looking for extras for a “gentlemen’s club” scene.)

Anyway, filming will take place at the following Tech locations: the campus recreation center, the Ford environmen­tal science and technology building, the G. Wayne Clough undergradu­ate learning Owen Wilson (left) and Vince Vaughn are working on “The Internship.” commons, the Klaus advanced computing building, the Leadership Challenge Course, the Noonan Courtyard and the Marcus nanotechno­logy building. Students, faculty and staff will have access to their offices and dorms but some disruption is possible, given all the gear involved when a production sets up shop. The Clough Commons Starbucks likely will be closed Aug. 7-9, with limited access through Aug. 19.

Wilson’s been spotted around town quite a bit since arriving to film “The Internship.” Tipsters have seen him at Lure, Ecco, the Optimist, No. 246 and Empire State South.

He stopped by Antico Pizza and was so knocked out by the food that he scribbled an impromptu review on a pizza peel. “Who knew that Atlanta, Ga. had better pizza than Naples?” he scrawled. “He texts my staff all the time,” Antico owner Giovanni Di Palma said when we stopped by to investigat­e.

We haven’t gotten too many Vaughn sightings, although someone did see him buying juice at the Buckhead Whole Foods. Those wild and crazy Hollywood types ...
