Bobbi Kristina Brown’s ongoing medical plight began as a rescue call but is now being described as a criminal matter.

On Tuesday afternoon, Channel 2 Action News reported that Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant confirmed the case was a criminal investigation, but added that does not necessarily mean criminal charges will result.

Earlier on Tuesday, an attorney for Brown’s father Bobby Brown released a statement noting the case’s status.

“This is a criminal investigation and the integrity of that process requires silence,” said Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC, in a statement that focused mainly on blasting media reports on Bobbi Kristina Brown’s situation.

The 21-year-old daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston has been hospitalized since Jan. 31 when she was found unresponsive in a bathtub. Today is the third anniversary of Houston’s death. She died at age 48 after drowning in a bathtub.

Hundreds gathered at a Monday night vigil in Riverdale, an event that featured prayers and gospel music.

“I can’t thank everybody enough,” said Bobbi Kristina Brown’s aunt Leolah Brown, one of many Brown family members who attended. “It’s given us strength. Krissy would be so proud that people really care. We really appreciate that.”
