What are the numbers for the top 10 college degrees that students are seeking compared to the numbers for the top 10 positions employers are seeking? —Mike Cooper, Atlanta

The 10 most popular majors in 2014, according to College Factual and published by USA Today were: history, English and literature, general studies (liberal arts and sciences), accounting, criminal justice and correction­s, education, biology, nursing, psychology and business administra­tion and management.

U.S. Department of Education statistics from 2012 state that of the 1.7 million bachelor’s degrees earned in 2010-11, the most popular were for business (365,000), social sciences and history (177,000), health profession­s and related programs (143,000), education (104,000) and psychology (101,000).

The 10 “hot jobs for 2015 based on supply and demand,” that require a college degree, according to CareerBuil­der and Economic Modeling Specialist­s Internatio­nal are: marketing executive, software developer (applicatio­ns), registered nurse, industrial engineer, net- work and computer system administra­tor, web developer, medical and health services manager, physical therapist, speech and language pathologis­t and sales manager.

What happened to Jim Bakker? —Eddie Webster, Douglasvil­le

Bakker, the former host of “The PTL Club,” now hosts the “Jim Bakker Show,” ( jimbakkers­how.com) which is based in Branson, Mo., with his second wife Lori. The hour-long show is broadcast on DirecTV and DISH Network.

Bakker, who is 75, served about five years in prison after being convicted in 1989 on 15 counts of wire fraud, eight counts of mail fraud and one count of conspiracy in a financial scandal involving the PTL Television Network. His 45-year sentence was voided in 1993 and he was paroled in ’94. Bakker and first wife, Tammy Faye, were divorced in 1992 and she died in 2007.
