He is a three-year starter and two-time all-conference performer who has played second base, third base and shortstop. He is the school’s active leader in games (159), hits (187) RBIs (75) and runs (96). Nathan Bates: RHP, Jr.: He was 1-3 with a 4.76 ERA last season and has a career ERA of 4.01 in 107⅔ innings. He is projected to be today’s starter after serving mostly as a weekend starter last season. Joey Roach, C, Jr.: The preseason all-Sun Belt Conference player hit .301 with eight doubles, three homers and 23 RBIs last season. The lefthanded batter is a .299 career hitter and was a member of the school’s all-academic team last season. Matt Rose, RHP/3B, Soph.: The preseason All-American hit .312 with 12 doubles, 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and 33 runs last season. He has a career batting average of .299 with 15 home runs, 20 doubles and 66 RBIs. He was rated the top prospect in the Valley League last summer.
