3-D PRINTING STARTUPS

-

Several startups in metro Atlanta have sought to offer 3-D printing directly to customers. They include: ■ Hyrel 3D, based in Norcross, which got started with a Kickstarter campaign and now makes and sells 3-D printers. ■ PaliProto in Marietta offers 3-D printing and scanning, and resells 3-D printers. ■ 3D Printing Tech, which this year opened a shop in Midtown, has produced items for everything from levers in Delta Air Lines flight simulators to a giant replica Coke bottle for a company event. 3-D printing is“like a steroid shot for inventors,” said 3D Printing Tech chief financial officer Josh Stover. Consumers can also go to an online database at 3Dhubs.com to find individual 3-D printers available for use locally.
