5 places you should try in historic Roswell
The dining scene in bustling historic Roswell is constantly humming, be it midweek lunch hour, Friday night or Saturday afternoon.
Exciting, varied choices abound in addition to longtime favorites like Mexican restaurant Ceviche, cozy cafe the Fickle Pickle and sushi joint Zest.
Table & Main
Table & Main hit the Roswell restaurant scene almost five years ago, but the “Southern tavern” is still going strong thanks to its beautiful location in a restored farmhouse cottage, an enviable patio and, most of all, seasonal fare that keeps diners coming back. Sister restaurant to Osteria Mattone (another must-visit in Roswell), Table & Main is known for its succulent, crispy fried chicken. Other standouts include the shrimp and grits — plump shrimp atop stone-ground grits full of creamy, smoky gouda cheese — and the Charleston she-crab soup. For dessert, we never can say no to the carrot cake.

The Real Fix Pizzeria
Located just steps off the main drag of Canton Street, this is a pie lovers haven, cooking up Neapolitan-style pizzas thanks to double zero flour, sweet San Marzano tomatoes and super-hot ovens. Unique flavor combinations make for interesting craft pizzas, such as the Get Crackin’ white pizza, with pistachio pesto and Brussels sprouts. Or check out one of the more traditional red pizzas, like the Fuhgeddaboudit, with extras like smoky bacon and creamy ricotta. But if you’re going to try out the Real Fix, we think you’d be remiss not to give its fried pizza a try. Carnivores can order the Beastmaster, a savory filling with a bevy of meats plus melty mozzarella and gorgonzola and a little kick from Calabrian chiles — all enveloped in a semisweet crust.

Roswell Provisions and Le Bistro
Roswell Provisions offers European flair paired with old-school charm. In the downstairs market area, you’ll find an espresso bar serving hot and iced coffee drinks, teas, ice cream and gelato, as well as a pastry bar with freshly made breads, pastries, croissants and more. There’s even an olive oil and condiment bar with specialty concoctions imported from Italy, Greece and France. The market stocks more than 100 wines, 125 cheeses, a variety of smoked and cured meats, and French and Italian delicacies. The French vibes continue upstairs in Le Bistro, featuring a light Parisian menu of classics like a croque-monsieur, salade nicoise and savory crepes.

Tutto Kitchen & Bar
Next door to the Real Fix Pizzeria, this restaurant offers a roomy spread of tables and a warm, inviting ambiance. A long bar encourages patrons to linger, sip and have a casual meal, while table seating offers more traditional dining. Customer service here really shines, with wellversed servers able to offer recommendations on the food and the extensive wine list. Among small plates, the grilled octopus and fried goat cheese are standbys. From the plethora of pasta and seafood entrees, we recommend the shrimp risotto. And do save room for the housemade cannolis.

Sugar Shack in the Back
Satisfy caffeine cravings and your sweet tooth at this spot, tucked behind the Fickle Pickle on Canton Street. Upon entering the small bakery and coffee shop, you’ll be pleasantly overwhelmed by delicious aromas of baked sweets. Pastries, cookies, desserts, ice cream and Counter Culture coffee are on offer, as well as biscuit sandwiches 8-11 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Simple, sugary goodness in the form of a beignet is sure to please.
