Cobb traffic signals ‘largely restored’

- By Steve Burns steve.burns@ajc.com

Most Cobb County traffic signals that were affected by an outage Wednesday have been “largely restored,” transportation officials said in a Twitter post.

About 110 signals reverted to flashing lights, and crews were dispatched to fix the problem, Cobb County Department of Transportation interim director Jim Wilgus told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Wilgus said he is not sure what caused the problem. But it could be a complication from workers making some fiber connections Wednesday.

A problem can cause the signals to “forget where they are” and revert to flashing yellow, he said.

The affected signals represent about 20 percent of Cobb’s total, Wilgus said.
