Police seek three in use of movie prop money in Buford
Gwinnett County police say they have identified three people in connection with the use of movie prop money at a Wal-Mart in Buford.
A man and two women, one of whom was the cashier who accepted the money, are at large, police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said Tuesday.
Police said while Travis B. Taylor of Blakely was stocking his shopping cart inside the Wal-Mart on Sardis Church Road, Melissa Sinquefield of Buford confronted cashier Jocelyn A. Gerstenlauer of Auburn about money that she supposedly owed Sinquefield.
Sinquefield left the register and went to her car while Taylor brought the lawn equipment to Gerstenlauer’s checkout lane, Pihera said. Taylor gave the cashier 10 counterfeit $100 bills as payment. Sinquefield later returned the merchandise for cash at a different WalMart in Gwinnett.
Gerstenlauer never returned to work after the fake money was found in her cash drawer, Pihera said.
All three are wanted for first-degree forgery, police said. Taylor and Sinquefield are wanted for theft by deception, and Sinquefield is wanted for a probation violation.
Pihera said Taylor and Sinquefield have left the Atlanta area and may be in Early County, which is about 190 miles southwest of Atlanta. Taylor has active warrants there in which he is accused of passing similar counterfeit $100 bills at a business in Blakely.
