Peyton to test comedy chops
Record-setting QB joins lineup for Comedy Central roast of Lowe.
Peyton Manning is a pretty funny guy. He’s proved that through the years via appearances on “Saturday Night Live” and various endorsement commercials of varying degrees of hilarity.
So it makes sense that the television network Comedy Central would seek to take advantage of those skills now that the legendary quarterback has moved on from his football playing days.
The network recently revealed that the Vols great will join comedians David Spade, Jimmy Carr, Pete Davidson, Rob Riggle and Jeff Ross, as well as actress Bo Derek, in a roast of actor Rob Lowe. “The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe” episode is slated to air Sept. 5.
You may remember that Lowe, who is a noted Indianapolis Colts fan, tried to break the news of Manning’s retirement on Twitter back in 2012 (and props to him for leaving that tweet active more than four years later.)
Considering that Manning went on to play through the 2015 NFL season and win a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos in February, that incident is likely to be brought up during the threehour event.
Taking the gloves off
These aren’t your father’s Rams — or, more specifically, these aren’t your father’s Rams fans. If you had concerns about the atmosphere at Rams home games, it looks like you had reason to be. A video that was uploaded to YouTube shows a particularly violent altercation that involved five fans. The 46-second clip, which is titled “2016 Rams vs Cowboys Preseason Fight” has already been viewed more than a quarter of a million times.
■ Rams DE William Hayes met with a fan dressed as Ariel from the Disney animated film “The Little Mermaid” after practice last week. Hayes was featured on the HBO series “Hard Knocks,” stating his belief in the existence of mermaids.

Jim Barach of WCHS-TV in Charleston, W.Va., on D.C. police chief Cathy Lanier becoming the NFL’s head of security: “Bad news for Tom Brady: Her first official move was to buy a new air-pressure gauge.”
Cassanova cut
Cassanova McKinzy’s NFL journey has hit a road block. After signing with the Buccaneers in May as a free agent, the former Auburn linebacker was waived by the team last week. McKinzy played for Auburn from 2012-15 where he collected 263 tackles, 8.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions. He was a threeyear starter for the Tigers and accumulated more than 70 tackles in each of his last three seasons.
No to bullies
The Jets, along with STOMP Out Bullying, held their first anti-bullying symposium that included more than 150 educators from the tri-state area at the team’s facility. WR Eric Decker, the team’s ambassador for its anti-bullying efforts, also spoke to the crowd. The event was hosted by Otis Livingston, CBS 2 sports anchor, and included panel discussions. Former Jets running back-wide receiver Bruce Harper, president of Heroes and Cool Kids, was among the panel leaders.
