Open house set for widening plans
Northern Forsyth county residents and business owners will be able to look at the plans for a highway/freeway improvement project later this month.
The work would widen Ga. 369 from two lanes from just west of Ga. 9 to just east of Ga. 306 — about 2.4 miles. It would also replace the Ga. 400 and 369 intersection with a grade-separated, partial cloverleaf interchange.
The project is part of the $200 million transportation bond issue the voters approved in 2014. County officials say that after the design work is done, they’ll start acquiring right-of-way and hope to kick off constriction in mid- to late 2018.
The Forsyth County Department of Engineering along with design group American Engineers will showcase plans during an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at Coal Mountain Elementary School, 3455 Coal Mountain Drive, Cumming. The open house will be drop-in and informal.

Special event parking registration open
Cobb County is notifying private property owners within a mile of SunTrust Park that 2017 applications for special event parking registration are available now for download.
Round one of the letters went out to property owners within a half-mile of SunTrust Park last week by the Cobb County Community Development Agency.
This week remaining owners, within a mile radius, will be notified.
With county approval, that means individuals can sell parking for special events throughout the county.
With the addition of SunTrust Park to the many other special event venues in Cobb County, the Board of Commissioners approved a special event parking ordinance in October to help manage traffic flow and pedestrian movements in these areas through a registration process and a $55 application fee.
Applications and ordinances can be found at cobbcounty.org.
