Sandy Creek looks at post-election concerns

Fayette County students, parents and community members voiced post-election social and safety concerns at a forum held at Sandy Creek High School on Wednesday night.

Questions about racial slurs, hate crimes, free speech and other issues were directed at a panel of local leaders that included newly elected District Attorney Ben Coker, Sheriff Barry Babb, school superinten­dent Joseph Barrow Jr. and county commission­er Charles Rousseau.

Panelists assured attendees that individual rights and safety would be protected and encouraged individual­s to use their own influence to maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance. Barrow said similar forums might be held at other

The Hapeville LCI Major Plan will build from previous Livable Centers Initiative plans to form a vision for the area. Using the Comprehens­ive Plan and various studies will result in a master plan that brings various stakeholde­rs together to form a unified vision and implementa­tion action plan for the ultimate enhancemen­t of the City of Hapeville.
