City hosting Livable Centers Initiative event

The city of the Hapeville will host a LCI/Comprehens­ive Plan Planning Crawl 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 starting at the Depot Museum, 620 S. Central Ave. The discussion about the vision for the LCI update will continue at each location.

After the Depot Museum, the crawl will move to Volare Bistro at 603 N. Central Ave., Beer Girl Growlers & Bottleshop at 587 N. Central Ave. and Butterswee­t Bakery at 625 N. Central Ave.

City’s first election draws 20 candidates

A field of 20 candidates signed up this week to run in the city of Stonecrest’s first election.

Voters will decide on the new city’s mayor and five City Council members during a March 21 election. All of the races will be contested.

The city of Stonecrest will include more than 50,000 residents in a southeast DeKalb County area near Lithonia, Interstate 20 and Stonecrest Mall.
