City appoints new mayor pro tem
Sugar Hill underwent a change in leadership in January when Council Member Curtis Northrup was selected to serve as the city’s next Mayor Pro Tem. The Sugar Hill city council selects one individual to serve a two-year term as mayor pro tem in the mayor’s absence. The position rotates through the members of the council. Northrup is stepping into the position following Council Member Brandon Hembree’s successful term.
Playground upgrades coming to Tribble Mill Park
Gwinnett commissioners approved significant SPLOST-funded upgrades for the playgrounds at Gwinnett’s, 718-acre Tribble Mill Park near Lawrenceville. Commissioners awarded a $997,899 construction contract recently to low bidder Professionally Engineered Structures & Associates LLC.
The playground at Ozora Meadow will get new equipment, surfaces, drainage, fencing, retaining walls, a concrete plaza, a pre-fabricated pavilion, picnic tables, a bike rack, landscaping and a pet drinking fountain.
Tribble Mill Park, at 2125 Tribble Mill Parkway, features two lakes and is often used for 5K races and large community events. In 2016, it hosted 112 private pavilion rentals, 31 race rentals, 31 group camping

Snowflake Princess Party. 1-3 p.m. Saturday. $11 per child, free for adults with paid child. Lucky Shoals Park Community Recreation Center, 4651 Britt Road, Norcross. Children, ages 3 and up, are invited to dress in their favorite princess dress and enjoy an afternoon of music, dancing and light refreshments.
