Timeline for county manager search set
With the county manager set to depart in less than two months, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners is getting a better handle on the process and timeline for picking a replacement.
Commissioners heard about it in a special called meeting late last week. Stephen Egan, senior vice president of recruitment firm The Mercer Group, outlined what’s typically a four-month-process which starts with developing a position profile and search game plan. Applicants would be evaluated and screened in month two with individual interviewing following and selection of semi-finalists in month three. Final candidates would be interviewed and the pick made in month four.
Current manager Doug Derrer plans to retire April 2 after a 40-year public service career.
Schools Superintendent Brian V. Hightower said he and his staff will use the next six weeks to seek and interview candidates for the principal post, as well as other principal slots and district leadership roles to be filled for next school year. Recommendations will be presented to the School Board at its March 16 meeting.
