Lane closures coming to downtown area

-

Lanes on Sandy Springs Circle in the vicinity of the City Springs downtown redevelopment will be closed later this month and will remain closed through the summer as crews install a storm drainage pipe and a curb and gutter, Sandy Springs officials said.

The two easternmost lanes of the street between Johnson Ferry Road and Mount Vernon Highway will close as early as Feb. 15. One northbound and one southbound lane will remain open during construction and an additional northbound lane will be opened for the afternoon commute.

A northbound lane closure already in place on Johnson Ferry at Sandy Springs Circle will remain as work continues on the stormwater pipe. Motorists coming from the west are advised to use Abernathy and Roswell roads instead of Johnson Ferry, while those driving from west to east to the south of the construction area are encouraged to use Hilderbrand Drive, Mount Vernon Highway and Roswell Road.

Sandy Springs police and traffic management crews will be on site to monitor conditions, assist with traffic flow and alter signal timings as needed, officials said. Consumers will continue to have full driveway access to local shopping.
