City breaks ground on new fire station
The city of College Park recently broke ground on a $2.1 million fire station, built with SPLOST funds.
Fire station 3, at the intersection of Southampton Drive and W. Fayetteville Road, will serve the College Park’s south corridor, city officials said. Construction will take up to 11 months.
The new fire station’s location will reduce incident response times, often impacted by heavy traffic on Old National Highway, according to city officials. Lindsay King, the father of Martin Luther King Jr. attended this church, received his calling to the ministry at age 10, was ordained into the ministry at age 15 and preached his first sermon in this church. Later known as “Daddy King,” he became a well-respected minister, influential community organizer and early champion of civil rights. 678-833-3306, MainStreet@CityOfStockbridge-ga.gov, CityOfStockbridge.com.

City considers sidewalk repair
The Dunwoody City Council will hold a public hearing for a special land use permit at 6 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 103. The permit is requested by Lang Real Estate Services LLC on behalf of Davechev Inc., owner of 5465 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, to purchase the property and construct a building for retail and restaurant uses.
Also on the council agenda is a measure appointing a new member to the city sustainability committee. Jacob Schiele, a resident and high school student in Dunwoody, will serve a two year term on the committee if approved.
The council will also request funding for grading, drainage and sidewalk improvements on Winters Chapel Road and Old Village Lane, in partnership with Georgia Development Partners. The cost for both projects is $295,000 and $85,000 respectively.
