Heath and Moore hope to play today vs. Boston College

Georgia Tech guard Josh Heath said Friday he expects to be able to play today against Boston College after tweaking his ankle in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Division II Tusculum on Tuesday.

“I got a little work in right now (Friday) and I felt decent,” Heath said before the team’s practice. “I should be good to go.”

Heath sustained the injury in the second half of the 96-58 victory for Tech. While the game was well in hand at that point, coach Josh Pastner said he wanted to give Heath playing time to give him time to find his groove after two subpar performances the previous week against Clemson and Wake Forest.

Since the injury, Heath said he had been tending to it “nonstop” with trainer Richard Stewart, including ice and electric stimulation, to reduce swelling.

“I’m hopeful for Josh (to play),” Pastner said. “I’m assuming he’ll play, but we’ll see how he (did Friday), and then it just depends on his pain tolerance.”

Having Heath in the lineup would be a considerable help for the Jackets, because he has become a critical element with his ability to see the floor and organize the team. Heath is averaging 5.7 points and 4.0 assists. He also has been beset by flu-like symptoms that have weakened him for the past week.

Pastner said guard Justin Moore, who missed the past two games with an abdominal injury, practiced Thursday.

“Assuming he goes (Friday), he’ll be ready to go (today),” Pastner said.
