-

1. Free throws lift Miami over Tech:

Georgia Tech attempted only three free throws, while Miami was 22 for 27 from the foul line in the Hurricanes’ 70-61 win over the visiting Yellow Jackets on Wednesday. Josh Okogie had 18 points and Ben Lammers added 15 for Georgia Tech (15-11, 6-7 ACC).

2. Tiger’s back is back:

Back spasms not only kept Tiger Woods from playing at Riviera, they forced him to withdraw from a news conference. Woods, the unofficial host of the Genesis Open, pushed his new conference back until Wednesday and then canceled it.

3. The art of club throwing:

John Daly (right) has thrown golf clubs in frustration over the course of his wild career. He says his putter going into a lake at a PGA Tour Champions event Sunday was not one of them. “If I throw a putter, it’s going to be in two pieces, not one,” Daly said Wednesday. “And it’s going to be 50 yards in the lake, not 5.”The two-time major champion said he flipped the putter over his shoulder to his caddie, who wasn’t watching, and the club went into the water.

4. No presidential brackets:

ESPN reported Wednesday that President Trump has declined the network’s invitation to fill out basketball brackets for the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournaments. President Obama, an avid fan, made a tradition of discussing his picks with the network.

5. Knicks winning this contest:

Forbes annual valuation of NBA teams lists the Knicks at No. 1 ($3.3 billion), followed by the Lakers ($3 billion) and Golden State ($2.6 billion). The Hawks are 23rd at $885 million.
