Five people, including two children, have been taken to the hospital after a car crashed head-on into a school bus Wednesday, Cobb County officials said.

The accident happened about 2:45 p.m. on Riverside Parkway near Crestside Drive, Cobb County fire spokesman Dan Dupree said.

A woman driving a white Mazda was leaving the scene of another accident when the vehicle crashed into the Bryant Elementary School bus, Cobb County police spokeswoman Officer Alicia Chilton said. A girl and a boy were on the bus at the time. Their ages have not been given.

Chilton said the suspect was caught just before she could leave the second crash. She was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The boy on the bus was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital, Channel 2 Action News reported. The girl was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Town Center.

Chilton said the driver in the first crash and the bus driver were also taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not released.

Shaniece Jewel was in the car behind the bus when the crash happened, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“They had just let kids off of the bus (before the crash),” She said. “The kids were walking to their homes.”

Jewel told the news station she rushed to help the two kids left on the bus.

“All (they) wanted were their mothers,” she said.
