Contract with physical fitness provider OK’d

The Milton City Council has approved an agreement with Core Physique to offer year-round fitness classes at two Parks and Recreation Department facilities.

Core Physique will offer yoga and “Find Your Strong Boot Camp” classes at Bethwell Community Center, 2695 Hopewell Road and a “Core Outdoor” fitness class and youth speed agility camp at Bell Memorial Park, 15245 Bell Park Road, according to its contract with Milton

The standards to meet are those of the Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas, which develops fitness programs for law enforcemen­t and public safety personnel, according to a policy summary. Officers will be evaluated in four events: vertical jump, situps, push-ups and 300-meter run. Events are broken down by gender and age groups.

The maximum annual cost of the program to the city is estimated to be $34,400, based on 172 eligible sworn and detention officers receiving the maximum $200 incentive.

Qualifying dates will be Monday through Wednesday, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., city officials said. Qualifying will be held in the city clerk’s office at Johns Creek City Hall, 12000 Findley Road, Suite 400. Qualifying fee is $450.
