Council opposes creation of new city
The Stockbridge City Council passed a resolution recently with a unanimous vote opposing the proposed creation of the city of Eagle’s Landing.
Stockbridge officials stated that very little information has been compiled to justify the formation of the new city and the proposed Eagle’s Landing boundaries would absorb some existing portions of Stockbridge, which its leaders said would be “unprecedented in the state of Georgia.”

Two police sedans, new ambulance needed
The city of Morrow fire department needs a new ambulance and its police department needs two sedans.
The city is accepting sealed bids for the ambulance through March 15 and is looking for vehicle specifications including compartment space for two sets of structural firefighting gear and two positions to mount self-contained breathing apparatus for interior firefighting.
Through March 23, the city will be accepting sealed bids for two 2016 or 2017 Ford Police Interceptor sedans. Both units, one unmarked and one marked, must have a black paint scheme. The marked unit’s specifications
Voters can begin casting ballots on SPLOST
Fayette County voters can begin casting their ballots regarding the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum. Polls are open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday until March 17 at the Fayette County Administrative Complex in Fayetteville, the Peachtree City Library and Tyrone Town Hall.

Clifton Road closed overnight for road work
Road construction is scheduled to take place overnight throughout the end of this week, weather permitting. Contractors for DeKalb County will be working from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Friday on Clifton Road between Gambrell/ Fishburne Drive and Uppergate Drive/Woodruff Circle.
From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday the workers will construct a concrete intersection at Clifton Road and Lowergate Drive. These streets will be closed to through traffic. Motorists are expected to find alternate routes of travel.
