Muirfield votes to admit women

Muirfield voted to admit female members for the first time in its 273-year history, clearing the Scottish golf club to return to the list of 10 courses that can host the British Open.

The club had voted last May to maintain its all-male policy and it was dropped from the Open rotation. Organizers of the British Open said Muirfield would now return to the rotation.

The host courses of the British Open have been announced through 2021. Muirfield has staged the British Open 16 times since 1892, most recently in 2013.

LeBron James got his 52nd career triple-double and Kyrie Irving scored 26 points for Cleveland. In only 28 minutes, James finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists.

Carmelo Anthony scored 15 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and Derrick Rose added 16 points as New York overcame a 13-point third-quarter deficit. Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis exited in the third quarter with a left leg injury.

Russell Westbrook had 25 points, 19 assists and 12 rebounds in his 33rd triple-double of the season despite shooting just 6 of 18 from the field in Oklahoma City’s win.

DeMarcus Cousins scored 22 points and Anthony Davis had 15 points and 15 rebounds for New Orleans. Cousins added nine rebounds and three assists. Late

General manager David Griffin anticipate­s forward Kevin Love will return during the team’s trip that begins Saturday. Love had surgery on his left knee Feb. 14. The defending NBA champions are 7-6 since he was injured.

Former Portland forward Cliff Robinson said he is recovering from a “minor brain hemorrhage” and is in the “process of getting better.” Robinson, who spent eight seasons with the Trail Blazers, also played for the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and New Jersey Nets during his 18-year career.

Forward Chandler Parsons, the team’s biggest offseason free agent signing, is out with a partial tear of the meniscus in his left knee.
