Vikings sign Murray to replace Peterson

Adrian Peterson’s time with the Vikings is over.

Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman confirmed so Thursday after the Vikings signed former Oakland running back Latavius Murray. The Vikings previously declined their $18 million contract option on the franchise’s all-time leading rusher, making him a free agent. Peterson, the 2012 league MVP and a fourtime All-Pro pick, played 10 seasons for the Vikings.

Murray, who will join Jerick McKinnon as the team’s top two running backs, spent four years with the Raiders. He rushed for 788 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns last season despite missing two games with a toe injury.

Falcons: Bolstered their defensive line by agreeing to terms with two-time Pro Bowler Dontari Poe. The 6-foot-3, 346-pound tackle joins All-Pro Vic Beasley and Grady Jarrett, who had three sacks in the Super Bowl.

The 26-year-old Poe has played for the Chiefs since being a first-round pick. He started 76 games and recorded 13 sacks over five seasons, while claiming Pro Bowl spots in 2013 and 2014.

Raiders: Agreed to a deal with free-agent tight Jared Cook, who played a key role in the Packers’ 2016 playoff run. NFL Network reported the deal is worth $12.2 million over two years with $5 million guaranteed.

Ravens: Reached agreement on a four-year contract with free agent cornerback Brandon Carr, a nine-year veteran and former starter for the Chiefs and Cowboys.

Cowboys: Re-signed veteran running back Darren McFadden and guard Jonathan Cooper. McFadden will go into his 10th NFL season as a backup to league-leading rusher Ezekiel Elliott. Cooper provides depth on an offensive line that lost left guard Ron Leary to Denver.

Rams: Signed free agent defensive back Kayvon Webster (Broncos) and running back Lance Dunbar (Cowboys) and re-signed kicker Greg Zuerlein.

Bengals: Brought back tackle Andre Smith to shore up a line depleted in free agency. Smith played right tackle for seven seasons in Cincinnati before going to Minnesota last year.
