Missing Clayton girls cold, but otherwise OK
Clayton police: Pair left on their own; 11-year-old suffers from PTSD.
The two girls, ages 3 and 11, were found about a half-mile from where they went missing.
Two Clayton County girls were found midday Friday, about 13 hours after they disappeared.
Three-year-old Imani Turner and 11-year-old Adormi Harris had last been seen about 11 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 100 block of Sterling Ridge Drive.
They were found about a halfmile away, near a house on Flint River Road.
Investigators using police dogs conducted an hours-long, doorto-door search for the children, and a Mattie’s Call had also been issued. The searchers did suspend their efforts just after 6 a.m. because it was so dark, but they resumed the search shortly after daybreak.
Temperatures early Friday were in the 30s.
Deputy Chief Joseph Woodall of the Clayton County Police Department said that “all indications are the children left on their own.”
Adormi’s mother told police she went to check on the girls about midnight after putting them to bed about 11 p.m.
She later discovered her purse, two cellphones, car keys and a tablet had been taken, Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said. She also noticed a stop stick in place to secure the door had been removed and placed to the side.
Adormi suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and insomnia, police said.
“Apparently, the 11-year-old was recently involved in some house fire at a previous location,” Woodall said. “So that may cause some of her restlessness and PTSD.”
