Gwinnett Chick-fil-A fails health inspection

It’s been a rough week for the Chick-fil-A on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

On Friday, an elderly woman drove through a wall of the Duluth restaurant, injuring a diner. On Monday, the fast food chicken joint failed a routine health inspection.

The Chick-fil-A location earned a 67/U on its health inspection, county records show. An employee was seen slicing lemons for lemonade with their bare hands, and the lemons had to be thrown in the trash, according to the report. Cut lettuce in a walk-in cooler did not reach a safe temperature — below 41 degrees Fahrenheit — within four hours, and also had to be thrown out, the report said.

The Chick-fil-A location earned a 91/A on its last inspection in December 2016 and a 100/A in April 2016. Re-inspections are typically conducted within 10 days.

“Food safety and cleanliness is our utmost priority at Chickfil-A at Peachtree Ind. & Pleasant Hill,” a Chick-fil-A spokesmansaid in a statement. “Our most recent inspection score was an isolated incident and was resolved immediately, as we take concerns identified in the health department’s inspection report very seriously.”
