3. Brady game cover hits home

Now, Tom Brady truly has reached the pinnacle. At least in the eyes of his video game-loving son. To the joy of 9-year-old Jack Brady, the five-time Super Bowl champion will be the cover athlete for Madden 18, following his Patriots teammate and buddy Rob Gronkowski. When Brady does take on Jack in the video game, well, it can get a bit awkward. Naturally, they both want to be the Patriots.

4. Madden curse or catalyst?

The Madden NFL curse is well known (Gronkowski last season, Michael Vick in 2003), but ESPN points out the opposite is sometimes true. Take Calvin Johnson, who graced the 2013 edition. The Georgia Tech and Sandy Creek alum set the NFL record for yards in a season the same year.

5. Patriots lock up ex-Bulldog

Former Georgia center David Andrews and the New England Patriots agreed to a three-year contract extension Friday, according to the NFL Network. Andrews’ deal is worth $9 million and could be worth a maximum of $11.17 million, according to NFL.com. Andrews, an alum of the Wesleyan School in Atlanta, started all 16 regular-season games at center last season.
