School initiative honored
Christ the King School’s “CKS Serves” program recently won a 2017 Innovations in Catholic Education award. The prize was awarded to the school as the winner of the “Total Community Involvement” category, which was announced at the annual National Catholic Education Association convention in St. Loui. CKS Serves grew out of Pope Francis’ call to open hearts and be the face of mercy in our world. CKS parents developed a specific Year of Mercy program that incorporated service projects in greater Atlanta. Because the program was so successful in getting students and families involved, it is now a permanent part of the school’s activities.

Netherworld move to transform Evermore CID
This fall will be the last time for haunted fun at Netherworld’s Norcross location. The popular haunted house will relocate in 2018 to a brand new 70,000-square-foot facility in Stone Mountain within the Evermore Community Improvement District.
The new location will allow for a large expansion of the haunts, new attractions including yearround escape games, expanded retail areas, extensive indoor queuing and increased parking.
Netherworld will be the first new venue to change the face of the area. “Ultimately, we are looking at creating an entertainment complex to give residents a higher quality of life within the district,” said Evermore CID Executive Director Jim Brooks.
