A: Georgia’s federal election calendar was changed to comply with the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, which established a 45-day window for overseas voters to return ballots in federal elections. In 2013, U.S. District Judge Steve C. Jones ordered the state to extend the time for military residents and Georgians living abroad to return absentee ballots, the AJC has reported.
