Proposed budget available online

Lilburn’s Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget is available for public review online at www.cityoflilb­urn.com and at City Hall, 340 Main St. A public hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 12, when the City Council will hear public comments and vote on the budget. The budget will take effect July 1.

Lilburn’s 2017-2018 proposed budget funds major projects such as a new police headquarte­rs and greenway improvemen­ts.

The proposed budget is nine percent less than the 2016-2017 budget.

According to City Manager Bill Johnsa, the city is proposing the property tax rate to remain the same at 4.43 mills.

Major expenditur­es in the proposed budget include $2.8 million for design and constructi­on of the police and municipal court headquarte­rs; $897,618 for transporta­tion projects, and $400,000 for patrol vehicles and equipment.
