Q: Where are the community health centers in District 6? Whom do they serve, and what services do they offer? —Linda Burton, Marietta

A: Community health centers that serve the area of Georgia’s 6th Congressional District include The Family Health Center at Lake Forest, Oakhurst Medical Centers, Mercy Care Chamblee, Good Samaritan Health Center/Cobb, Georgia Highlands Medical Services and the Center for Pan Asian Community Services.

The centers are associated with the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration’s Health Center Program, which for 50 years has “delivered affordable, accessible, quality, and cost-effective primary health care to patients, regardless of their ability to pay,” according to its website.

The Family Health Center at Lake Forest is schoolbased and open to students and affiliates of Lake Forest School in Sandy Springs (Fulton County). However, FHC provides adult, pediatric and adolescent care, women’s health, vision, dental, behavioral health and prescription services, at its location in Marietta, less than 2 miles from the 6th District.

Mercy Care Chamblee offers adult primary care, pediatric care, behavioral health, dental/vision service, pastoral care, radiology, screenings and wellness/educational programs. Oakhurst has several facilities in DeKalb County, which provide adult, pediatric, OB-GYN and other services. The Center for Pan Asian Community Services provides immigration physical exams, internal medicine, pediatric care, dental, OB-GYN and minor surgery. Good Samaritan and Georgia Highlands, both located just outside of the 6th, serve district residents with family and pediatric care, women’s health, screenings and prescriptions, among other services.
